There is always a core.

Martin Byrial is a Danish-born composer whose work lives at the intersection of cinema and concert music. Now based in Los Angeles, he composes for directors and storytellers who value the symbolic. Art as a window into something vast.

Byrial released seven albums with the symphonic post-rock ensemble LISERSTILLE , whose debut The Construction of the Amp Train was praised by Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke for its fusion of orchestral form and rock dynamics—positioning the group at the forefront of a Scandinavian orchestral post-rock resurgence. His work with the band laid the foundation for his symphonic long-form, story-driven musical voice.

That same voice shaped his six-movement symphonic work for string orchestra and organ, known as The Gratitude Concert , premiered in Denmark. Written as a tribute to families navigating chronic illness, the piece marked a return to grand statements and musical narrative rooted in lived human experience—but ascended into all their potential.

In film, Byrial scored God Teeth (dir. Robbie C. Williamson), which has its European premiere at Raindance London, June 2025. The film’s bold visual style and narrative abstraction called for a score that could lead and follow at once.

He is a frequent collaborator with composer Jesper Kyd, most recently serving as orchestrator on the feature film Crazxy (dir. Girish Kohli, prod. Sohum Shah).
